Mantalingahan peak, 11:12 AM
Aicelle's Zaku stood in front of the warship's doors, waiting to be deployed. Soon she was given the go signal to parachute down. Although she was nervous, she tried to restrain her dread. She closed her eyes as her Zaku leapt out of the plane, deployed its parachute. Soon, she felt a calm feeling and reached the ground safely.
She was about to move to the bunch of mango trees when she heard more noise in the sky. Three planes began to dump out living people! "No! What the... Lieutenant Guerrero what are you doing!?" To her horror the people rained like stones, hitting the ground at a violent pace.
"Commander... this is just too cruel..." she told the Boss. One of the people, a woman, fell on her Zaku's head, and slid off, passing in front of the camera eye. Aicelle saw the woman's cracked skull as the corpse fell to the foot of her Zaku. It was for her, unbelievable. A man of Boss Chief's reputation was to be feared, but this was just too much. But, orders were orders. As a mere Warrant Officer, she could only keep her mouth mum on these atrocities. She just reassured herself that the Feddies were much more evil than the Chief could ever be. Reluctantly, she continued her march to the shade of trees.
"Uh... Aicelle Quinn, taking position," she announced to the Zeon team, her knees shaking as a result of the Chief's inhumane actions. To make things worse, the sight of Clara tied to a MS-sized flagpole, and rigged with bombs keep haunting her. "God please let this be over soon... with no more casualties if possible..." she steadfastly prayed.

11:20 AM Mount Matalingahan
As soon as the carrier doors opened, Officer Alexander leapt from the ramp in his Zaku, not wasting time with a parachute he braced himself for a rough landing and hit the mountainside feet first. Once the mobile suit had stabilized Tom started his way down the mountain.
Just when he was about to hit the base his sensor picked up something falling from up above. Having jumped before looking around he was unaware of the live dropping going on above. Reaching out his mech's hand he caught the person before they hit the ground. It was a little girl. opening up the cockpit's hatch, he drew the child inside and closed it back up.
While holding her he noticed she had a mild concussion and so he looked around for the medical kit he had stored inside the cockpit and took out some medical tape and wrapped the girl's head up after disinfecting it. Pulling out the emergency blanket he placed it on the floor behind his seat and laid the girl on it, he used his second blanket as a pillow.
Once she was situated he continued on his way and reached the mountain's base. he pulled out his bazooka and kept his Heat Hawk at the ready. He wasn't going to let any Feddies interfere with the Lt.'s duel if he could help it.
Turning on his radio he commed Boss and said, "I am in position, sir. Ready to take out any unwanted interlopers."
Tom's Zaku was currently in a position that it had a clear view of the jungle at the mountain's base. And yet despite their was a curious rock formation that just happened to be big enough to hide him should he spot trouble.

High noon was fast approaching. Up on the flag, Clara remained silent as she was bound to the pole. Her eyes have that strange, blank stare, due to trauma. Everything happened so fast. Only yesterday, she was about to wrap up the taping for her new soap opera. Now, here she is, a bait for the Federation team.
The heat of the midday sun was causing her to lose even more consciousness. Life was fading in her eyes. Clara, once a very lively girl, has lost her mind. Nothing matters to her now. Not even her impending death. All she ever worked for, all of her dreams... gone. She could care less if the bombs went boom. Her life is over, as far as she is concerned.

Graham stood and watched Cruz converse with his commander Sergeant Anata. As they finished a thin smile could be seen on Graham’s face. He also walked towards the tent entrance, musing as he went.
“Well, Ensign Cruz seems to have a good head on his shoulders so far. Even if I don’t necessarily agree with the conclusions he reached, a concern for his men is one of the hallmarks of a good officer. Here’s hoping he doesn’t waste that potential by getting himself killed.”
Pausing at the entrance for a moment, Graham turned back to Cruz, having decided to give one piece of advice.
“You’ve got potential Ensign, being concerned with the wellbeing of your unit is an excellent thing for an officer. Just don’t make the mistake of forgetting that you’re part of the unit as well. Best of luck mate, for all I know you just might need it.”
With that, Graham stepped outside of the tent. Just in time to see a preposterously large Zeon flag being unfurled by the enemy commander’s Gouf. Graham’s expression changed to a condescending smirk.
“Well, I must say that this man seems to have a flair for the unnecessarily dramatic if nothing else.”
It was just as he finished that thought that bodies began raining from the Gaw. His mouth opened slightly as his fists clenched tightly .
“Damn you Zekes! And you wonder why the other colonies wouldn’t support you, you genocidal bastards!”
Turning around, Graham yelled back at the command tent. If someone had looked closely enough, they could have seen a tear fly from his face as he turned around
“Hey Cruz, get out here! We’ve got a big bloody problem on our hands.”
With that, Graham began to run towards his GM. Regardless of the situation, he was sure that the MS would be needed soon. Jumping into the suit, he keyed his radio into the team communication frequency, his voice wavering slightly from what was now anger.
“This is Vulture, just give the word Cruz. I’m behind whatever decision you take, just kill that Gouf.”

Shun finally returned to his intel hover truck....
Anything new? Sir, we got a signal from one of our trip locators that we placed. Seems like the Zekes are here! Great....this isn't good we still need time.... What should we do? What we've always been doing! Prepare for combat! Roger!
Shun ran outside to the transports. Mechanics!! Hurry and unload the the 24th's GMs and prepare the beam rifles and get that sniper unit ready The mechanics replied, YES SIR!!
Shun's intel officer came running towards him. Sir!! you better take a look at what our video tracker took.
Alright let me take a look Here you go sir. Shun watched the video of Zeon dropping civilians out of a plane. What The-!!!.....This...is too horrible...even in war time!! Shun clenched his fist. They....will pay dearly for this!! And I hope that these damn Zekes put up a better fight than their comrades in Europe Shun quickly turned to his intel officer. I want you to begin researching the terrain and enemy positions immediately! Sir! replied the intel officer
With haste. Shun ran towards his GM ground type and began to activate the Mobile suit...Alright team. Stay focus and prepare. We don't move out until the 24th's commander gives the go. Is that clear?! Pilots respond, Yes sir!!

E.F.S.F Coalition Temporary F.O.B (Forward Operations Base) OST: Visions of What's To Come
Quote :
............hmm, you sound like my former commander Sylvan. Thinking about the lives of his men and......doing a mission alone Shun walked towards a tent window and looks out. It.....was the same thinking.....that killed him back over when we were in Europe.....So, thats why I make a policy in my squad that we work as one body...as a team
Shun turns to Sylvan. Going out alone in this type a situation is guaranteeing your death! Of course it may have to be that way at first......but you should utilize the 56th and the 32th to do the tasks behind enemy lines. I don't know what aspects the 32th are specialized at but for us of the 56th we go behind enemy lines almost on every mission. Shun receives a msg from his team intel. *Sigh* I have to return to my team sir Shun walks out to the tent opening and opens it half way. Sir, I urge you to think about your strategy in a broader sense and use our skills and specialties to make this successful....We've come to the point of no return.
Sylvan listened to Shun's words, He knew the weight of his decision and putting the weight of his life behind that decision, He knew the weight of his life, how more so when it came to the lives of the unit who believed in him. He clenched his fist while it was on the table.
"I know, If there was another Option then I would've chosen it ever so gladly...There is just no other way..." He whispered to himself as Shun got out.
Quote :
"You've got potential Ensign, being concerned with the well being of your unit is an excellent thing for an officer. Just don't make the mistake of forgetting that you're part of the unit as well. Best of luck mate, for all I know you just might need it."
Sylvan bowed his head, people were concern about him, he was too. He didn't want to die and certainly fighting that Gouf alone could get him killed immediately. But the Unit, He thought of the faces of those battle weary men. He knew this was war, but for some reason he wanted to save the best number of people he could. He slammed his fist on the table.
"Shit!!" was all he could mutter from the pressure of life and death that surrounded him.
Quote :
"Hey Cruz, get out here! We've got a big bloody problem on our hands."
Sylvan quickly turned to Graham's Direction and went out the tent,he then saw a different Graham, his face painted with grief and anger. Sylvan was puzzled and then looked up, At first he couldn't fathom those "things" that were free-falling from the sky.
"Huh? What in the hell-" Before Sylvan could finish, his mind slowly comprehended those "things" to be human and the next second he knew, they were human beings falling from Zeke's planes.
Sylvan's eyes widened, his mouth opened but no sound came out, his hands shook as if he was having hypertension. His mind became blank as he heard the shrieks and screams of the falling people. His legs wobbled a bit. He stood there entranced like a moth to a fire.
Quote :
"COME FLATLANDER! WHITE DEVIL!!! FIGHT ME!!!"
This announcement snapped Sylvan back to the ugly reality he was in, Being able to move he held his right hand on the wrist and tried to stop it's shaking, The thoughts of the unstable Lieutenant filled his mind, he knew he was demanding and unstable. He knew that when he saw Clara be tied to a chair and almost be humiliated in mainstream video. He shouldn't have made him wait. It dawned to him as clear as the Sky and as clear as the people falling from the sky. It was his fault.
Quote :
"This is Vulture, just give the word Cruz. I'm behind whatever decision you take, just kill that Gouf."
He heard Graham radio out from his GM. Sylvan knew he shouldn't keep the Lt. waiting anymore if he is to avoid more useless bloodshed.
"We're already caught in this vicious circle of war...Before we even knew it, War is a real monster..."
Sylvan Angrily ran to his Gundam and made it stand up even though it still had camouflage nets on, The Gundam removed the nets forcibly and then ran full speed Towards the designated Mountain of Battle. He made the Gundam fire a white flare to the sky signalling the Gouf, as if saying Enough! I'm here alone. Honoring your terms.
"I'll get you Guerrero, I will. For all those innocent that died today. I WILL DEFEAT YOU!!!" He said coldly from inside his cockpit that the whole E.F.S.F. heard with eyes different from what he had before. He felt rage take over him, what little sense of calm and control he had was slowly fading away,His mind slowly numbing and blanking out But he didn't care. He was basking in the rage and hate he felt.
"Let me, revel in this Man-made chaos even for just once...Just once..." He then turned off communications with the team.

Warrant Officer Kirkland was unloading supplies from the 56th's transport, when he heard shouting coming from the camp. A few of the men were pointing at the sky and when he looked in the general direction, he saw Gaws floating above the mountain, tossing people overboard, letting them plummet to their deaths. On the peak of the mountain, he saw a green Gouf, holding a flag with the Zeon emblem on it; and tied to the pole was the hostage, strapped with explosives. He suddenly dropped the crate he was carrying, mouth agape, and began to quiver with horror, intense anger, and the intent to kill.
Quote :
"COME FLATLANDER! WHITE DEVIL!!! FIGHT ME!!!"
When Daniel heard the Lieutenant's declaration, without a moments hesitation, he ran to his GM and got in the cockpit. He cried out to the others "I'm moving out, don't try to stop me!!!"He then tried to make his way to the base of the mountain undetected. ("I have no intention of interupting the Ensign's fight, but I am going to destroy every last one of Guerrero's reinforcements, I won't leave a single one of them alive. Those zeke bastards are all the same!") Daniel began to shake even more and pulled a bottle of pills from his pocket, deciding to take his medication again.

Shun was in his cockpit making sure everything was in place. One of his mechanics ran towards his GM. Sir! We've completed unloading and prep the 24th's GMs! But we have no one to pilot the Gm ground type Sniper! Good job, but as for the Sniper type. I'll pilot it for now. Is it ready to go? Its waiting for you sir! Very well I'm heading over to it. Maker sure to keep my GM (G) running in case I need it Sir! replied the mechanic.
Suddenly, Shun heard Sylvan's last message to the team.
Quote :

.........Sylvan, just remember...one time....changes soldiers....just like it did to me Shun pressed his hair that covered his left face. Almost immediately his intel officer radioed in. Sir? Sylvan cut off all comm should we- Don't worry about it intel, let him go....this is his fight, we have no right to intervene Aye sir!
Shun left his Gm(G) and headed towards the GM (sniper) but stopped in front of Sylvan's Gundam. Knowing comm was off, he hand signaled a message in hoping that Sylvan notices it. Shun Points to his gundam and the transport truck that contained the Beam Rifles. I hope you can understand me up there Sylvan....

Graham sat inside his GM running a final series of diagnostics on the beam rifle. Having a free moment to calm down following his gut reaction to the Zeke challenge had helped immensely. With his breathing back to normal, Graham noticed Warrant Officer Kirkland hopping into his own GM. While that was perfectly normal given the situation, what came next stunned Graham as Kirkland shouted,
Quote :
"I'm moving out, don't try to stop me!!!"
Graham bit his lower lip in frustration.
“Oh you’ve got to be kidding me! Not only is this kid disobeying a direct order, but he’s also going off on what basically amounts to a suicide mission. Both Cruz and Anata seem to be busy with their own preparations, so I guess it’s up to me to calm him down before he gets us all killed.”
With that Graham’s GM, thankfully located relatively close to the route Kirkland would have to take towards the mountain, dropped its rifle and shot forward in a thruster assisted dash. Bringing his shield up, he pushed it into the upper torso of Kirkland’s GM, hoping to arrest its forward motion. Taking advantage of the MS’ physical contact for private communications, Graham yelled at Kirkland.
“You will stand down trooper!”
Hoping the momentary increase in volume would get the Warrant Officer’s attention, Graham dropped down to a more normal volume.
“Look, I know you’re angry. You have every right to be after what that bastard did. But, that doesn’t mean that running off towards them is going to fix anything. In all likelihood it would probably get you killed, followed by bringing the rest of the Zeon forces down on us. For the moment, the best thing you can do for both those civvies and your unit is to remain here and prepare to either back up Ensign Cruz or continue with your primary mission once this diversion is over. I know it hurts, but endure the pain for the moment. You can have all the revenge you can stomach later. Just stand down.”

Mount Matalinhagan... the peak...
The Gouf stood tall, like he was the king of the mountain. It's hands were resting on the hilt of its heat saber, which was planted to the ground. Like a brave knight waiting for his opponent, the Gouf stood motionless for a while, sunlight illuminating its green armor. To the Zeon soldiers on the plane, Boss Chief's mobile suit looked like a God of War, gazing at a chance for redemption.
A cold jolt ran down Boss Chief's spine. Though he could not see the Gundam, he got this strange vibe that it had seen him, and that it was moving closer and closer to the mountain. At last, Boss Chief's dream had come true. Another bout with Zeon's sworn enemy, the Father of all the Federation mobile suits... the GUNDAM.
A flare tore across the noon sky, perhaps a signal from the Gundam. Only the Gouf's mono-eye moved, the rest of its body remained immobile. The camera followed the flare, then turned back its gaze to the foot of the mountain.
"A flare. This guy is serious..." he wondered.

He gritted his teeth, grasping the controls as tightly as he could, pounded his fist next to the console and let out a loud scream "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrggg!!!!!" He was panting heavily, then he lifted his head and responded "Yes sir." They then made their way back to the camp, realizing that in hindsight, he was making a very grievous decision.

OST:Eight Phases Illusions
Sylvan's eyes were different now, they were cold and murderous and lifeless, he simply gawked at Shun's GM as he made the Gundam turn around and pick-up a Beam rifle and put it inside the Gundam's back pack up behind it and resumed it's sprint towards the mountain.
Kill, Kill, Kill, Kill, Kill were the words ringing in Sylvan's Head.
He blamed the senseless deaths on the Lieutenant and he wanted him to take justice for it. Reaching the bottom of the mountain he aimed his gundam's hand on the mountain edge as a rope and anchor fired from it. Activating the boosters in full throttle he made the Ground type Gundam jump up immediately as soon as he fired the rope, hoisting the Gundam up.
"I am here..." He said coldly as the Gundam suddenly appeared in mid-air too close to the Gouf, In a few seconds that seemed to be an eternity as if time slowed down, The Gundam looked like as if it was going to ram him, it's head so close to the Gouf, it's eye glowed a sinister green, It seemed to be, No IT WAS A stare-down the Gundam was still in mid-air with the momentum of the rope pull and thruster power.
It's head looming over the Gouf's as the Gouf looked up, the Gundam seemed it will head-butt the Gouf from it's momentary angle of elevation. As if the slowing of time stopped the Gundam just passed the Gouf in altitude and decided to land behind the Gouf and in front of the tied-up Clara, kneeling down. It's cockpit opened up and Sylvan revealed himself momentarily to Clara.
"I will get you out of there miss...after this Duel...Trust me, Just Hang on."
The Gundam stood up and faced the Gouf, Sylvan's cockpit still open, Him being revealed he shouted to the Lt.
"Lieutenant, Open your hatch and Show yourself! Let's talk as men with pride would!"

Shun finally got in and activated his Gm(G) sniper type. Alright....everything is all green Shun's GM turned towards his team. Are we all set? The other Gm pilots replied, ready to go sir! Okay good! Lets move out and show those Zeke bastards why we are known as the "phantoms" Sir!
Now on the move, the 56th mobile suit team set out to sneak up on the other Zeon mobile suits and initiate their "Plan".
Huh? Is that Kirkland's and Graham's mobile suits? While setting out, Shun notices Kirkland's and Graham's machines returning to camp. Quickly opening up comm to Graham's mobile suit I've just now noticed that you two are returning? Did something happen?

The Gouf turned around and faced the Gundam. Its chest vent swung open, and out came Boss Chief. He looked at the Gundam's pilot and spoke.
"I have very little time for chat, White Devil. I came here for a fight, and you shall deliver it to me. There's no Federation nor Zeon out here, it's just you, me and our mobile suits!" Boss Chief was surprised to see the Gundam move so fast it looked like a white blur. The beam saber closed in fast. Boss Chief's Gouf lifted up its Shield and blocked the shot, but the Gundam's power seemed to be very overwhelming. The Gouf slammed to the ground as it was pushed back (thus the Crit effect) and broke off a few of its shoulder spikes when it crashed into a piece of large rock.
"Ha ha ha ha ha!" Very good! More, more! I want to see more of that coming!" said Boss Chief. The Gouf got back to its feet and charged at the Gundam
Boss Chief's turn:
"FLATLANDER!!!!" said Boss Chief. The Gouf ran down the mountain and shot a heat rod from its right arm and it zoomed towards the Gundam.

Despite the cannon being at close range, the Gundam's shot missed, and this is due to the incredible agility of the Gouf. Built almost exclusively for land warfare, the Gouf is able to use its powerful engines to run, sprint and dash across the ground, something not all mobile suits are accustomed to doing.
"Incredible!" said Boss Chief. "You are becoming desperate to take me down!" The Gouf brushed aside the 180mm cannon with its hand and aimed its wrist-shooter at the head of the Gundam. Once again the heat rod flew out, charged with loads and loads of electric energy that could short-circuit the Gundam if it was careless enough.
