PART A: "A Reason To Play"

Odaiba Tokyo...

A tournament of the best Gunpla Builders and Gunpla Meisters from all over Japan, is being held today. Gundam fans of all ages and walks of life have gathered here, waiting for the most-hyped match in Gunpla Battle History.


The Tokyo Cup is the most prestigious tournament for Gunpla Battlers. The winner is usually crowned King or Queen of Gunpla, and retains the Championship for a year. It is for that reason that the competition is so fierce. Even Haru Irei and his Beginning 30 Gundam, last year's Champion, was eliminated early today. Despite that, he stayed in the stadium, waiting for the eventual champion of this bout.


The stadium was jam-packed with people. It was hot, humid and noisy, but they could care less. All they wanted to see were the two finalists. These two have battled through the crowd, crushing all opposition. Now, the only obstacle that they have to face, is each other. The lights dimmed out, and silence fell on the entire stadium. A cosplayer dressed as Lacus, also the event announcer, came out and got on the stage.

"Everyone, I'd like to have your attention please. The final match is about to start in 20 minutes. We request that everyone calm down and listen. Okay... here are the two finalists..." she announced. Everyone was waiting with baited breath, fists clenched and knees shaking. The moment of truth. Then, the music changed.


"He is a young man with a cool demeanor and a captivating charm. Pilot of the Tallgeese version NT-D, and a rising Gunpla Meister, he has never been defeated in his entire career! Let's hear it for TEPPEI HOSHI, a.k.a. OTSDARVA!!!!" the Lacus cosplayer announced. The crowd went wild upon hearing Teppei's name, the pilot of the deadly NT-D Tallgeese. The announcer wasted no second and brought up the name of the other finalist.


"Our other finalist is just as skilled. She is the current Akihabara Mid-Year Champion, a fast rising star in the Gunpla Scene. She pilots the deceptively powerful Puss Gundam! Ladies and gentlemen, MIKOTO AIZAWA, the Angel From Above!" This time the cheering was even louder. Perhaps because the crowd was mostly male. "We love you AngelfromAbove! Mikoto-san will be the Champ!" a group of fanboys, 100 strong chanted repeatedly as the map of "Dakar" from Gundam Unicorn was loading.

Natsume Ichimonji squeezed through the crowd, hoping to catch a glimpse of the two finalists. She wasn't tall enough to see above the towering heads, but she can hear the announcer well. "Shit! Those two are both newcomers! Even the Beginning 30 was defeated early... I didn't expect the two finalists to be this good!" she said to herself, amazed at what's going on.

Charlie adjusted the sunglasses he was wearing for his Quattro cosplay and stands up. He puts away all the notes he had taken on the days previous battles and hearing that the next battle has a good bit of time before it starts decides to walk around to pass the time. He looks around and notices the Lacus cosplaying announcer step down from the stage and decides to make a move. He casually flirts with her and gives her his business card before making his way through the crowds again.

Teppei Hoshi smiled and waved at the crowd as his name was called. He watched as two special machines--ones with panoramic cockpits were lowered onto the stage. The undefeated Meister zipped his AEUG suit, placed his helmet on and stepped into the simulator.

When the sim's hatch closed down, Teppei's image appeared on the wide screen. He gave a "thumbs up" to show that he's ready to win the match. As the map of Dakar loaded, he felt a strange aura coming from his opponent. This one sent shivers down his back.

"Mikoto Aizawa... Mid-Year Champion of Akihabara. Now this should be written down in the history books. A grand clash of the ultimate mobile suits. There's no way but to push forward, am I right Tallgeese?" Teppei Hoshi asked his mobile suit.

The Tallgeese soon entered the virtual world. It was the City of Dakar, in Senegal, right after the Shamblo attacked it. There was a huge burning line spanning from the shore up to the government building. It was amazing how Bandai recreated this scene from Gundam Unicorn episode 4. It felt so real that Teppei could've sworn he can smell the sea.

The Tallgeese landed on a seaside road. The light triggered the Tallgeese's flourescent red paint to glow bright. Teppei called out to Mikoto, for everyone watching the match to hear:

"Hmph. So it's Mikoto Aizawa. What right have you to fight me? You who wins by sheer luck!" Teppei mocked his female opponent. The Tallgeese leapt on top of a building and gazed at the horizon.

"Angel From Above, Puss Gundam... all those silly legends. They die today. I've surpassed you, and now I'll prove it!" Teppei boldly claimed. The audience's cheering grew louder when they heard Teppei, aka Otsdarva, made such a strong statement.

"This should be a very interesting fight," Nehemiah said, watching the as the two contendors were announced. He looked to his left and watched as he barey missed being pushed to the side by a girl making her way through the crowd. 'Well someone is certainly in a hurry to see these two...' he thought. When the announcement was over, the first thing Nehemiah saw was his boss, Charlie, walk over to the Lacus cosplayer. He sighed, and adjusted his backpack, knowing that any time Charlie tried to flirt with a woman... It ususally didn't go well.

Mikoto's ears twitched when he heard Teppei bragging about his Tall Geese. She quickly got into her own capsule, shut it tight, and placed her Puss Gundam inside the Haro Scanner. She wasn't gonna let this dude talk smack about her, even if she liked him. This was a Gunpla Battle. No feelings, no crushes or stuff like that. It's just her and the enemy. There will be a winner, and a loser. A crestfallen, and a champion.

Suddenly Mikoto was plunged in the virtual world. Dakar, a city that became a battlefield, was the Grand Finals' map. The Nahel Argama, a ship from the UC show, served as the launching point for her. High above the city the Nahel Argama's gates opened, revealing the cat Gundam to the public. "Okay! Puss Gundam, Mikoto Aizawa... launching!" The Nahel Argama shot the cat out of its runway. Puss Gundam flew like a magnificent ballerina in the air, sailing like a sugar glider down to the road below. 3d cars and cgi people scrambled out of the way as Puss neared its target.

Wham! Cats always land on their feet and Puss Gundam was not exception. But in the simulation, this cat is a mobile suit, therefore heavy. The Puss' hard boots crashed into the concrete, shattering the pavement upon impact. The mobile cat yanked out its rapier and pointed it at the Tall Geese on top of the building. "Is that so Otsdarva. I'll have the last laugh when I see that mobile suit swimming in a litter box! Meow!" Mikoto retorted.

Kisu could not hold back his laughter as his friend Walked up to the stage and talked to the Lacus cosplayer. Walking away from his friend he saw a familiar face in the crowd. It was the owner of the Gunpla Cafe that he Frequented for the friendly service and Delicious soda. Pushing through the crowd he helped get her to the front "Why hello Miss Natsume fancy seeing you here. Charlie dragged me here he is hoping that seeing all these Gunpla battles will entice me to join his Battle team. I think he has dreams of him being the one on the screen" Kisu said with a laugh he irritated his friend to no measure with his continuing support of both shops.

"Tho even if I did join his team I would still enjoy your Cafes environment. But it looks like the final match is getting ready to start." Kisu finished as the two finalist suits appeared on the screen. and he really wanted to watch this match. Because regardless of what he might say these battles excited him and he really wanted to try to get on that big screen himself.

Looking at the screen, he was surprised that this OTSDARVA fellow was taunting the current champ. After all, there's a reason they are the champ. He remembered fighting her in the last tourney, and he was annihilated. He was not eager to repeat the experience. Looking around, he saw a fellow in a Char Aznable attire and immediately recognized the owner of the Red Comet Hobby Shop, a gunpla store he frequented, talk to the Lacus look-a-like and walk away after a bit.

He could only wonder what he was talking with her about, although by the blush on her cheeks he had a pretty good guess. The guy could be a real sweet-talker when it suited him. Jeremy laughed quietly. He only hoped when the next tournament came around he had a better showing. He sighed and walked off into the crowd.

Kenji was just another bystander watching the big screen from the audience. This was the first time he's ever seen Gunpla Battles for himself. He was amazed by the sheer realism and the pilots' determination to win. He became very excited to fight as well, facing off against who knows how many enemies. He aspires to perhaps to get on that big screen himself one day. "So, these are Gunpla Battles huh, now I'm really pumped. I'll become one of the best someday and fight on that stage, I just know it." Then the announcer called up the two finalists of the tourny. The first was Teppei Hoshi with his Tallgeese, custom painted with NT-D colors, reminiscent of Gundam Unicorn. The second was Mikoto Aizawa with her.......Puss Gundam(?) He'd never seen such a model before. It might have looked silly, but it must be powerful to have gotten to the finals. Soon the finalists both got into their respective capsules and the battle was about to begin. The two Gunpla faced off against one another on the battlefield while it was being displayed for everyone to see.

Daniel was among the many who were watching the great gunpla battle between the two finalist. An uprising and a defending champion. it was going to be a battle of remembrance, Just like the great battle between Haru-Kun and Shuberg. The Forever gundam vs Beginning gundam.

He kept watching the screen until his eye's noticed two gunpla locations that he knew of at the same place. The first one was obvious with his Char Aznable cosplay attire, who represents and owns Red Comet Hobby Shop. The other was one he was very familiar with, a gunpla cafe co-run by a young one name Natsume Ichimonji. Daniel was a customer there at times but had never truly spoken to her directly before, that will probably change when the next gunpla battle tourney begins.


For now, all he did was lean his guitar against the wall, and kept watch on the screen as the battle was about to unfold...

The Lacus cosplayer tried to be professional to Charlie, and just smiled nicely at him. She didn't seem to have interest in him, so she walked away and disappeared behind the curtains. Behind the stage she tore up the business card that he gave her and threw it into the waste bin. The crowd erupted in laughter as he went back to the crowd. After that his attention was called by two security personnel. "Stop trying to ruin the show you dimwit!!" one of the people in the crowd yelled at the Char cosplayer.

Natsume was surprised to see a familiar face in the crowd. Kisu Inu was one of the people that frequents her shop, also a very nice person. She answered back. "Hey sorry I forgot your name but you look familiar to me. I do know your friend though, the owner of the Red Comet Hobby Shop right? What a clown he is... hahahahah!" I am she chuckled.

The map of Dakar had loaded to 100%. From ragdoll physics to lighting, and texture rendering, the Map looked very realistic. The HD function of the Jumbotron only served to make the scenery more breathtaking. At last, the fight is about to begin.


"Mikoto Aizawa might be the Mid-Year Champion of Akihabara, but the Tokyo Cup is an entirely different league. It's not just Akihabara, it's all of Japan! Here, all the battles are one on one. She does not have the backing of her team mates this time..." Natsume narrated to Kisu, sharing her opinions regarding the match.

"This Otsdarva fellow is undefeated. Which means that he has never been shot down. Stats-wise, the Tallgeese is the superior mobile suit. But the Puss Gundam has advanced through foes much stronger than the Tallgeese, including a Psyco Gundam if you saw the 8:30 match earlier today. There must be magic in her sleeves. So, who are you betting on?"

The Finals...

Mikoto was glad to have the advantage in this fight. Dakar had plenty of buildings, all large enough to hide the Puss Gundam. The Tallgeese would most likely stay airborne, for flying is its strong point. The cat mobile suit climbed on top of a tower and began to scan the surroundings for possible tactical spots.

"Teppei Hoshi, you will never again underestimate a woman after this battle! 'Bout time I put you and your bigoted ways in its place!" she said to Otsdarva, lecturing the Tallgeese pilot.

Risa, and the rest of her school's Gunpla club were also watching the event. They've managed to occupy a sizable portion of the floor, handing out flyers about their club and the Exia R2 Sakura. Risa felt awkward having her face imprinted on those flyers. The members were claiming that the whole Gunpla scene needs to watch out for the debut of their princess.

"That's enough I suppose..." she told the distributors. She wanted to focus on the Puss Gundam and its pilot. In her mind, she wondered if she can also reach the finals next year. Being only a rookie, it may be hard to get that dream to reach fruition.

Javier approached Risa and the Gunpla Club. He wasn't exactly there for the match. His Latino blood commanded him to get some love, some sexy pumping action. "This girl looks like a ditzy one," he whispered to himself. "Pretty face, nice smooth legs and a tight ass and bouncy tits. My kind of meal..." he said as he approached the girl. It was a good thing she was surrounded by a bunch of nerds. That will make it easy for him to drive them off, or at least pay them for the rental of their little miss "Princess".

"Hey there!" Javier said, taking Risa's hands. "I'm Javier De La Vega, and um, I wanna be your friend. I have a car, do you want to go somewhere else?" Javier offered. He paid no attention to the nerds surrounding her. He continued his suave advances towards her, hoping that his height will make nobody dare mess with him .

"Um, hello. I'm Risa, I...I am the muse of this Gunpla Club and these are my friends..." she replied to the handsome foreigner. She wasn't so sure what Javier had in mind, but to her he seemed very friendly. Before she could answer his other question, the club members immediately swarmed around Javier and poked him with their pens.

"Hey what the heck to do you think you're doing with our hime-san!?" a chubby club member questioned Javier. He popped his knuckles ready to clobber the foreign kid's smug face. Risa quickly intervened and got in-between the two boys.

"Please, don't fight here! I don't like to see any fighting, please! He was just asking me a question... uh, about... Errr... I think I forgot can you repeat that again Mister?" she asked Javier. Risa's short attention span was always her weakness.

"Yo dude what's the problem?" Javier asked the geek who just threatened to punch him. He wanted to hit that fat fucker too with his hands but that would just make him look stupid. He restrained his anger and took out his wallet.

"My name is Javier De La Vega and my father works in an advertising firm. So I can help you with those ads you were distributing. I can put the name of your school and Gunpla club on magazines to help boost your popularity," he offered, trying to use his father's name to win their respect.

He took a sheaf of bills from his pocket and handed it to the fat nerd. "I will pay you for any damages that I may have caused. I just want to take your Muse out for some coffee and I'll discuss with her the mechanics of my offer. Please accept it..." he said with a deceptively kind and sorry face.

Risa's clubmates were suddenly enticed by the foreigner's offer to put their names on a magazine. The club had been searching for fame for years now. The foreigner just offered them a tempting offer that they can't resist. They were also given money. "Hmmm... okay. You may take our hime-san out for coffee but you have to bring her back in an hour!" said the chubby club member. He handed out a flyer to Javier including the contact numbers of the club officers.

Risa was confused. She had no idea what's going on. The chubby club member was the club's Vice President. He nudged Risa to go on and accept Javier's offer. "Okay, then, if the officers say I must go, then I'll go with you sir. But I don't drink coffee, can we go to Pizza Hut instead? I'm hungry..." the cute girl said. She heard her stomach growling. Reluctantly, the gullible girl stepped forward to join Javier.

"Sir, you are not Japanese? You are an American?" she asked innocently. "I heard Americans are nice people, that's what my auntie says!"

While watching the battle go on, Daniel was impressed at how it was progressing so far. Even between a known Gunpla and an unusual custom gunpla. Although however, out of the corner of his eyes he saw a commotion between what looked like a tall, rich snotty brat and a young female who was accompanied by a group of nerds.

He didn't fully understand the situation, but he got a good idea on whats going on after seeing the rich one pull out money. So, without hesitation, Daniel put his guitar on his back, and picked up his pack-sash which held his gunpla for the battles, and walked on over towards the group...


"Young miss, I wouldn't go with this guy if I were you"

Kisu thought about it for a second then replied. "My name is Sirius tho all my friends call me Kisu, About the match well normally I am a fan of Tallgeese but as an avid animal lover I really hope that big cat takes it" Kisu says with a laugh as he continues watching the fight. His two great interests melded together Gunpla and animals how could he not root for the Puss gundam, plus it was downright adorale tho he would never admit that. No matter which suit won this promised to be a good match. He did miss Crimson but his bird could not go everywhere he went as much as he wished it could.

Javier sarcastically smiled at Daniel. He looked like he wasn't Japanese too. "Hey, mind your own buisness will you. We're both foreigners in this land and I suggest that you stop creating trouble. Oh please, for heaven's sake..." Javier said, then cutting Daniel off from Risa's view.

"Yes Miss, I'm not Japanese. I'm from the USA but I have Spanish blood. As for your suggestion, okay. Let's go to Pizza Hut. It will be my treat. And perhaps we could buy your club buddies some snacks too. Seeing how nice they are. It'll be on me, it does not matter how many members you have. My wallet and my credit card shall solve all of your problems!" he said to Risa with gleaming eyes.

Daniel grit his teeth when the snotty brat pushed him aside. But chuckled alittle bit when the brat said that money will solve all problems. Realizing that reason was not going to get through to this guy, he spots for a security personnel. While doing so, he got his phone out from his overshirt pocket and flipped it up.

"Now look here sir, I DEFINITELY suggest that you leave these good people alone. *points to a security guard that was patrolling the nearby area* Don't force me to call the security on you and have this interrupt the match-up. I will not hesitate to call the police on you and tell that you are disturbing this group's enjoyment of being here at the finals. Your choice..."

The club officers split the money for themselves. They noticed Daniel trying to talk Risa out of coming with Javier. Sensing that their chance at a decent advertisement is in jeopardy, they quickly shooed Daniel off. "The muse has already agreed to go out with that kind gentleman. Don't blow our chance away! He can get us advertised in big magazines!" a club Officer whispered to Daniel.

Risa didn't know why this other guy was preventing her from coming with the Hispanic guy. To her, Javier looked like a nice and reputable fellow, and a true gentleman. If he had other ulterior motives, she was totally oblivious to it. She looked at Daniel and reassured him that everything was okay.

"Thanks for your concern, but he offered to buy food for the rest of the club. He is a nice man." he told Daniel.

"My name is Risa Tachibana! Pleased to meet you Mr. Dela Vega! Let's go!" she said happily, unable to comprehend why a stranger would be so nice to her, but she didn't care. After all, it was free lunch.

The Tallgeese flew over to its designated starting point. Teppei was so ready fo this match. The only person standing in her way was Mikoto, and her dreaded Puss Gundam. He tapped his fingers on the panel as he waited to the announcer's go signal.

"Sadly it is thee, Angel, who will suffer the taste of defeat. The Tallgeese is a machine you wouldn't want to tangle with. The last thing my opponents see is the barrel of my Dobergun, or the red glow of my beam saber before they get wiped out. So say your prayers, cat!" Teppei warned his adversary.

Ignoring Daniel, Javier bid the club members farewell with a promise of bringing them back some pizza. He took the pretty chick by the hand and led her past the crowd. He made sure that nobody stepped on her feet or bump into her by giving them mean stares.

He then guided her to the parking lot, where nobody would interfere with his plan to score points in Risa's heart. He showed her his red Jaguar, imported all the way from overseas to serve as his personal vehicle.

"Do you like my car? He he. Now let's go to, um, Pizza Hut and we'll discuss the terms of the advertisement there. On the condition that we become very close friends. Hop in, Miss Risa. I am sure you will find my car very relaxing, comfortable and fun." Javier opened the passenger's seat for her and invited her to sit inside.
